I am now into double figures when it comes to buying Wedding Photography Books and I’m glad to say this one is by far the best. Do I wish I bought this one first? No, as I have several books to compare this one to.

The other books I have are all good; it’s just that this one stands out more. It gives you a guide as to what equipment is needed for the big day. From the front cover to the back page it is full of beautiful wedding pictures and ideas. The layout is very user friendly. It has a fresh modern approach to wedding photography with lots of new ideas. Each one of the beautiful pictures has the camera settings beside it. Which, I found very useful. This book also gives you structures for the day, tips on how to interact with the wedding party. Most of all, this entire book makes it seem an enjoyable experience for the photographer (as it should be) and not just a nerve racking day. The book also spends a lot of time explaining how to take the pictures from your memory card to produce the finished album, as well as how to advertise and how to sell your product.

I have taken a lot form this book, one of the most important for me, is confidence. I can now stop thinking about becoming a Professional Wedding Photographer, and start taking steps to achieving that goal.

I went onto the author’s website (details in the book) for more inspiration and was very excited to find that she also runs (affordable) practical training courses. I am currently in negotiations with my wife, to book my first course.

Fabulous book, tells you everything from `buying the right stuff’ to `what exposure is the best for what type of picture’. Everything is explained with big effort and many examples, so it’s also a very good book if you are an amateur and want to learn more about your camera. However, a negative point then is that only half of the book is actually dedicated to landscape photography.

Worth buying when you just started to shoot landscape photographs or when you want to learn more about your camera to use it for landscape photography.

nb: the book includes wonderful pictures of the author Peter Eastway!

I found this book boring and uninspiring, it was very dated as were the pictures. There were no real examples and no illustrations with lighting, which you would think fundamental in portrait photography. I was going to give this book a good review just so I could re-sell it, but I could not do it.

This is a book with a message: Posing is difficult and takes a long time to learn. Fair enough, but one would have hoped that reading this book would somewhat shorten that time! However, it is very short on any real advice. Instead it is full of verbose smalltalk praising the author and patronising any apprentices he’s had, and, between the lines, you the reader. Maybe there’s some real knowledge to be gleaned from this book, but it certainly isn’t worth its money.

I bought this camera recently with the arrival of our first child to be able to record general bits and pieces as all new dad’s do! For the cost I wasn’t expecting a great deal but I’ve been really surprised at how easy and well this camcorder performs. For someone who just wants to take general video of ’stuff’ you really can’t do much better than this for the price, a friend of mine was a bit dismissive of it however he’s a professional and spends more on his kit than most people do their houses but for the price he had to conceed it certainly does the job!

Marcus Bell writes with ease, is clear in his explanations, the images used are sublime - can you tell yet that I’m a fan of this book?!?

One thought about most books like this would be a ‘How to’ from start to finish. By this I mean the initial image would generally not look like the finished print that you or I see meaning most will get ‘…shopped’. So, personal taste aside I’m also keen to know what he did as a step by step guide to the finished print. That’ll be too much to ask as it may be perceived as giving secrets away.

All in all - great book.

No other art form has pervaded almost every corner of the globe in the 20th century quite like photography. Accessible, personal, direct, it operates with the simple click of a shutter, but has a level of potential to sate the most ambitious appetite. In the 19th century it was used primarily to document and record, in the following century it blossomed into the multifarious medium that continues to develop. Portraiture, landscape, surrealism and, perhaps most significantly, photojournalism, have all had wonderful exponents who, at their best, can uniquely capture the spontaneous complexity of an instant. Perhaps it is the unpredictability of the medium that sets it apart, that can give a dangerous edge to the most carefully prepared composition. Reuel Golden has selected his most vital exponents of the craft, including several examples of their oeuvre accompanied by a brief biography and crib- notes. In arranging them alphabetically he gives unity to the creator rather then the art or the history, which produces a lucky dip of delights that can bear unexpected treasures. On the dust-jacket he admits his favourite snapper to be Helmut Newton, an influence reflected in his selection’s unduly heavy bias towards fashion photography. This book shows the best examples of the variety of ways people use their cameras. It shows that you don’t need to follow in the footsteps of the masters to get great photos and the great images can be of any subject. The’documenting’ photographs, such as the first landing on the moon and the murder of a judge, show a moment in time that is unique and saved on film forever. Photography is not about the great technical skills of Ansel Adams of the ways of capturing human emotion like Bill Brandt, but about capturing a persons view of the world, which all of the photographers in the book have done. Vital in anybodies book collection even if photography doesn’t interest them. It’s an wonderful example of how we should all stop and take time out to view the world we live in, in a different way. Especially as the mini version is avaliable.

For anyone who loves photography this is a book to be highly recommended. It is the most inspirational photography book I have ever had and I have shown and recommended it to many of my friends who now intend buying it. I am registered on ePHOTOzine and can say it a five star site but what its owner and founder, Peter Bargh, has done in this book is pick out some of the very best photos that have been uploaded on there by its members. All the photos give details on how each has been shot and by which ePHOTOzine member and there are hundred of tips on photography and editing in Adobe Photoshop. It is absolutely ace and it has definitely inspired me to be more creative in my photography.

Customer Review: Close ups done right!
Many books have been written on the subject of close up photography, some intend to show of the authors in-depth knowledge which, in turn, make the subject look like a science/algebra lesson rather than fun, others skim the surface in a superficial way. This book rocks the boat and delivers, in the reviewer’s opinion, the best, most practical book ever written on close up photography. The square format gives space for pictures to breathe, the design is simple, type style easy to absorb, and the photos clearly show the author has a skill in macro, not just insects but product photography etc.

What also makes this book special are the thoughtful tables showing the +/- of which camera and which accessory to use, clean diagrams, and some very good illustrative photos showing equipment used and in real life situations. Just when you thought that was about as good as it gets you end with a selection of inspirational imaging techniques with lighting diagrams.I can’t recommend this book enough. Even if you’ve never considered close up photography Cyrill will make you want to!

Bought this camera almost an year ago. Results were never consistently satisfactory. Flash seems to be slow in response and less powerful, giving dull pictures. Had a fault with the auto-focus recently and luckily getting rid of it as it is still under warranty.
